You're NOT Alone: PPD Support and Outreach

You’re not alone

New mothers often feel the “baby blues” shortly after their baby is born. They may be emotional, cry easily, become easily frustrated and feel exhausted. When these feelings last more than a few weeks, it may be time to consider reaching out to a doctor for help. But so many moms fail to do this – why? We all strive to be the best parents – and we feel guilty if we are not excited and joyous when our new baby arrives.

Mental Illness Awareness Month

The National Alliance on Mental Illness has declared the first week of October to be Mentall Illness Awareness Week. To promote this cause and create a community of understanding for our Moms, we will be doing a month long series shedding light on different facets of this subject, specifically Postpartum Depression. Each of our chapters has a PPD support group within it to connect moms who may be looking for advice, or hoping to share their own experiences. We will do our best to provide you with a plethora of resources, testimonials, and personal stories.

Giveaway! Baby Mantra Products #BabyMantraLove

Many moms (like myself) are very concerned about using earth-friendly, natural and organic products in our homes....especially on our bodies. We are always looking for kid and baby friendly products that do not add to the toxic load of our family. I want to know what is in our personal care and skin care products, I want them to be gentle enough for our entire family, and I want them to be all-natural, not full of chemicals. How about you?

Baby Mantra products are just that, all natural, dye free, allergy tested, gluten free and cruelty free.

Charity Miles - Mommiesonthemove

Good morning my fellow Mommies!  My name is Diana and I'm on the Board of Directors and a long-time member of BuffaloMommies.  I've just created a team on the phone app, called Charity Miles.  I'm asking everyone to download this app and join my team, "mommiesonthemove" :) The Mommies Network is currently on the waiting list, but if we can show enough participation by members joining and logging miles we can hopefully get off the waiting list.  Until we are officially approved you can choose any charity of your liking, that is on the approved list already.

Looking for a Few Good Mommies

The Mommies Network is looking for some mommies with a passion for parenting to help out our chapters.  Could that be you?

Group Facilitator (network level position)

Do you have a passion for a particular aspect of parenting or the parenting lifestyle? Perhaps you have adopted or fostered children and are eager to share your knowledge and experience with other parents considering that decision? Or perhaps you’ve struggled through a divorce and would like to help other mothers through that struggle?

30 Day Charity Challenge for The Mommies Network

Hi Ladies!  For those that don't know me, I'm Diana.  I was the Senior Advisor of Finance for a little over 2 years and now I'm on the Board of Directors.  I live in Lockport, NY and I am a member of Buffalo Mommies.  I'm currently training for a triathlon relay in August and will be running 6.2 miles.  I am participating in a Charity Challenge through Map my Fitness and trying to win $2,000 for The Mommies Network.  In order to be eligible to win I have to exercise at least 12 times in the next 30 days, and raise $150.  Even if I don't win, all of the money raised goes to TMN.

Can We End the Mommy Wars?

I was checking out our Facebook page today and ran across a great article that Leslie, our Senior Advisor of Promotions, had shared. As I read the article, it reminded me of what we do here and why we do it. I felt compelled to share this article with you, in hopes that it will serve as a great illustration of what our mission and vision is for each of our chapters.

You can read the article yourself here: 5 Mommy Wars that Just Aren't Worth the Fight by Jill Pond.

There have been many posts on the internet about “The Mommy Wars” and all of the various topics that moms everywhere seem to fight about. If you have been a member of a TMN chapter, its likely that you have experienced one of these “wars” yourself – it seems that no “mom group” is immune to this sort of thing.

Congratulations AnnapolisMommies!!!

Congratulations to AnnapolisMommies for winning our February recruiting contest.  They increased their membership total by 22%.  To help them celebrate, The Mommies Network will be sending them a gift card to treat their members to coffee at an upcoming meet and greet.

Our chapters did great across the board, bringing in over 400 new members.  Keep up the great work everyone!!

KentuckianaMommies gets updated website!

KentuckianaMommies will become the first large chapter to migrate to the new website platform on Tuesday, January 6.

Development on the new websites has been ongoing since October of 2013. AnnapolisMommies was the first new chapter to launch on the platform back in November, 2014. Chapter leadership from KentuckianaMommies, BaltimoreMommies and BuffaloMommies has participated in testing for the past two months in an effort to ensure that migration goes off without a hitch.
